What Are You Thinking?

“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.”

Proverbs 23:7

Have you ever paused to reflect on your thoughts? So many of us allow our thoughts to wander aimlessly, unaware that we have the power to control and shape what we're thinking about. I'm not referring to sinful thoughts, but rather the thoughts that occupy our minds day and night. Why does it matter, you may wonder? Because our most dominant thoughts will steer the direction of our lives. And when we're seeking healing, it's vital to pay attention to our thoughts.

If your thinking is not dominated by the Word of God, but rather by your five senses, you can fast and pray and have all your friends’ lay hands on you; and still not see your physical manifestation of healing. The aftermath often results in fear, doubt, disillusionment, disappointment, and unbelief. And these emotions can further impede the faith that you once had.

The way to avoid all this is to align your thoughts with God's Word continually. In 2 Corinthians 10:5 we are instructed to take every thought captive. If your dominant thoughts are negative, they can be a hindrance to your receiving healing. Thoughts like: "I'm not good enough, I'm not worthy, there's something wrong with me, this is so hard, I can't do this..." etc. can obstruct your healing. Instead, endeavor to cultivate thoughts like: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, when I'm weak - then I'm strong, I am accepted in the beloved, I will not be anxious about anything, I am more than a conqueror, I have the victory, my youth is being renewed like the eagles!"

Our top priority should be to set our minds on the Word of God only. God desires us to think His thoughts. It is unrealistic to entertain negative thoughts and expect positive outcomes. By adhering to His Word, we will be led, guided, strengthened, revived and renewed.

Abraham serves as an excellent example in this regard. The Word says he considered not his own body, nor the deadness of Sarah's womb. (Romans 4:19) Instead, he focused solely on the promise God had bestowed upon him. Abraham refused to entertain any thoughts that contradicted the word he had from God. And we should do likewise.

I encourage you to make a decision today to change the way you're thinking. Redirect your thoughts. Clean up your thinking. You possess the ability to change the way you think, and as you think ~ you will become!
