“For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.”
Proverbs 23:7
Ever think about what you're thinking about? So many of us just let our thoughts flow here and there, without ever realizing that we can control and clean up what we're thinking about. No, I'm not referring to sinful thoughts; but rather the thoughts that fill our minds day and night. Why should it matter? Because our most dominant thoughts will be the direction our lives go in. And when we're seeking healing, it really matters what we're thinking about.
If your thinking is not dominated by the Word of God, but rather by your five senses, you can fast and pray and have all your friends lay hands on you; and still not see the physical manifestation of healing. What then follows is often fear, doubt, disillusionment, disappointment, and unbelief. And these emotions can then block the faith that you did have.
The way to avoid all this is to have your thoughts line up with God's Word continually. In 2 Corinthians 10:5 we are instructed to take every thought captive. If your dominant thoughts are negative, they can be a hindrance to your receiving healing. Thoughts like: "I'm not good enough, I'm not worthy, there's something wrong with me, this is so hard, I can't do this..." etc. can prevent you from receiving your healing. Rather, endeavor to think thoughts like: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, when I am weak - then I am strong, I am accepted in the beloved, I will not be anxious about anything, I am more than a conqueror, I have the victory, my youth is being renewed like the eagles."
Our top priority is to set our minds on the Word only. God wants us to think His thoughts. We can't go around thinking negative thoughts and expect positive results. His Word will lead us, guide us, strengthen us, revive us and renew us.
Abraham was a perfect example of how to do this. The Word says he considered not his own body, nor the deadness of Sarah's womb. (Romans 4:19) Instead he focused on what God had promised him. He refused to think on anything but the promise, the word he had from God. Make a decision today to change the way you're thinking. Redirect your thoughts. You CAN change the way you think!
