"For we walk by faith, not by sight."
2 Corinthians 5:7
When I was faced with an insurmountable health challenge in my own life, I began to grasp the truth that this verse conveyed. After receiving a medical diagnosis for which there was no remedy, I learned to walk by what the Word said rather than by what my senses were perceiving. Walking by faith meant completely trusting God and His Word despite physical evidence to the contrary. Likely you can relate to my experience.
When walking by faith and not by sight there will be a continual conflict between what your senses are telling you and your faith. (Galatians 5:16,17) Your physical senses will often repudiate God's Word. Walking by sight means allowing your senses and human logic to dominate your life instead of God's Word. But, in order for His Word to become health to all your flesh, you must keep your ears, eyes, heart and mind solely on the Word, despite physical evidence to the contrary. We must believe that "by His stripes, we are healed," confess it with our mouths, and act accordingly.
Faith is believing and praising God as though our healing has already been accomplished, even before we experience the physical manifestation. Faith requires that we believe that we have received when we pray, not when we see the actual manifestation of our healing. (Mark 11:24) True faith gives thanks and praise to God even before we experience the physical or emotional results. Many biblical examples support this ~ Abraham gave God glory long before his promise was fulfilled. (Romans 4:20); the Israelite's praised God before the walls of Jericho fell (Joshua 6:20); and Jonah gave God thanksgiving before he was vomited from the belly of the whale (Jonah 2:9).
Although giving praise and thanksgiving before our healing is evident may really be a stretch for many of us, it pleases God. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. (Hebrews 11:6) Walking by faith and not by sight may not be easy, but it is God's way, and His ways are so much higher than our ways! You have been empowered by the Holy Spirit to walk according to the Word ~ to walk by faith, not by sight. You can do this!
DAILY DECLARATION
Today I endeavor to walk by faith rather than by what I see, feel, or perceive in my body. I choose to allow my spirit to dominate my physical body. The Word says I've been healed by the stripes of Jesus Christ; despite what my body and mind are telling me. I choose to walk according to the Word. Thank you, Holy Spirit, for empowering me to rise above my physical symptoms and for enabling me to walk by faith according to the Word.
