Resist the Devil

“Therefore submit to God.

Resist the devil and he will flee from you."

James 4:7

What does resisting the devil have to do with healing? Despite what you may have previously been taught or believed ~ the devil is either directly or indirectly responsible for what's ailing you. (Acts 10:38, Luke 13:16, John 10:10) Acts 10:38 calls sickness 'spiritual oppression.' Although it may appear physical (or emotional), the health challenge you are facing is primarily spiritual in nature. John 10:10 declares that the devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Jesus came to give you life!

Since the days of Adam and Eve, the devil has endeavored to deceive God's people and steal their faith. Jesus said the devil is a liar (John 8:44), and each of the Epistles has something to say about standing fast against him. The devil is not to be feared, as he is powerless and defeated; yet he will make every attempt to deceive you. He is no match for the One dwelling inside of you. Therefore, we are to resist him and the symptoms he throws against us. How do we do this?

First and foremost, we must be submitted to God and His Word. We must know the truth, and this is best accomplished by constant, diligent study of the Word; it is sharp and powerful ~ a double-edged sword! Relationship with God, as your Father is essential. Spend time daily in His Presence and His Word. Throughout the day, listen to faith-filled teachings. Remember, faith comes by hearing. Praying in the Spirit will build you up and keep you in the love of God. (Jude 1:20)

Having been built up in faith and the love of God, you will be able to resist and rebuke the foul spirit coming against you. Tell it to go and it must obey you. No weapon formed against you will prosper. (Isaiah 54:17) And should it attempt to come back again (which he usually does), resist it again. After you have actively resisted and rebuked the attack, endeavor to turn your focus to the Word of God. Magnify it above any symptoms.

And lastly, surround yourself with like-minded believers. Find friends who will walk along side of you in faith. You can do this. Jesus defeated the devil for you, and all you need to do now is discern his deception, submit yourself to God and resist him ~ and he will flee from you!

DAILY DECLARATION

Thank you, Jesus, that you defeated the devil for me. I submit myself to God and the Word. I take the authority You have given me according to Luke 10:18 and I will resist this sickness and disease he has put on me. Devil, I command you take your hands off my body now in the Name of Jesus Christ. I resist you and you must flee. Get out of my body now!
