“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering,
for He who promised is faithful."
Hebrews 10:23
In my younger years 'confession' was something we did about once a month. We'd slip into a small enclosed cubical in the back of the church and proceed to confess our sins to someone on the other side of a walled-off partition. We would then be assigned several prayers that we were to go to the alter to pray as penance for our sins.
The word 'confession' took on a whole new meaning for me when years later, I became a born-again, spirit filled believer. In the text above, the word confession means to say what God says. It is affirming what God has said in His Word. So, our confession, the words that we speak, are to align with what God says. I learned that I was to confess what God said about me, rather than what could be seen or felt. Not only that, but I was to hold fast to my confession without wavering ~ no matter what. We can either be imprisoned by or empowered by our confession; it's a choice we make daily. What we repeatedly hear, eventually we will believe.
For those of us dealing with a health challenge, we can confess our pain, sickness, or disease, or we can choose to say what God says. For example, He says: We've been healed by the stripes of Jesus Christ. (1 Peter 2:24) He says: Jesus took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses. (Matthew 8:17) He says: He heals all our diseases. (Psalm 103:3) He says: He will restore health to us and heal us of our wounds. (Jeremiah 30:17) We can choose to boldly confess what God says and follow His example in Genesis 1. He spoke and His spoken word created. As we boldly confess His Word, He watches over His Word to preform it. (Jeremiah 1:12)
We must hold fast to our confession through thick and thin in the face of every assault of the enemy. Your adversary, the devil, is ever present to remind you of the pain, the symptoms, the doctors' report, the lab results etc. Nonetheless, when sickness and disease are screaming at you, it is then that you must hold fast to our confession of the Word without wavering and boldly declare what He says. Jesus is the High Priest of our confession. (Hebrews 3:1) And as the scripture declares above ~ He who promised is faithful. Surely, He will make it happen!
DAILY DECLARATION
Despite what I see and feel in my body, I choose to declare what the Word of God says. I am made in the image of God and I have the ability to create with my words. My words carry power so today, I boldly declare that He heals all my diseases and the power of the Holy Spirit flows through me even now ~ healing me and making me whole.
