“And you shall know the truth,
and the truth shall make you free."
John 8:32
It's the truth that you know that sets you free. If it was just the truth that would set us free, then we'd all be free. But so many of us are walking around in the bondage of sickness and disease because we don't know the truth. The truth has not made its way from our heads to our hearts. We cannot gauge what is true by what we are experiencing, or what others are experiencing, or by what we believe. We can only know the truth through God's Word. Jesus said in John 17:17: "Sanctify them by Your truth. Your Word is truth." Personally, it took me a long time to recognize that my experience needed to line up with the truth of the Word ~ not visa-versa.
The truth is:
1. He heals all our diseases. (Psalm 103:3)
2. He sent his Word and healed us. (Psalm 107:20)
3. He took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses. (Matthew 8:17)
4. By His stripes, we were healed. (1 Peter 2:24)
5. It's the Spirit who gives life, the flesh profits nothing. (John 6:63)
Of course, there are other endless truths in the Word, but these are some that are relevant to health and healing. Despite evidence to the contrary, it was when I began believing these truths instead of what my body was telling me, that things began to change. Eventually these truths made their way into my heart, and I began to know the truth. I intentionally began to magnify the Word above my experience. Was it easy? NO! But the Word is clear that being carnally minded leads to death, while being spiritually minded leads to life and peace. (Romans 8:6) To be carnally minded simply means to be focused on the physical realm ~ what you can see, taste, feel, hear, and smell. To be spiritually minded is to focus on the truth of God's Word.
I encourage you to begin walking in the light of God's Word. Magnify it above your physical/emotional symptoms. Meditate, meditate, meditate on the Word. Allow it to consume your thoughts despite symptoms that contradict it. Proverbs 4:20-22 instructs us to give our full attention to the Word, resisting the temptation to divide our attention by the lab reports, doctors' reports, or symptoms. Further instruction is to keep the Word before our eyes. Look only to the truth, which is the Word. Soon you will know the truth and it will set you free!
