He Keep His Promises

“And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body,

already dead (since he was about one hundred years old),

and the deadness of Sarah' womb."

Romans 4:19

Abraham was seventy-five years old when he first heard the promise from God that he would become the 'father of many nations'. Prior to that, Sarah, his wife, had been barren in her young childbearing years. In light of their obvious circumstances, Abraham chose to believe God, not considering his own aging body or the barrenness of his now maturing wife. Twenty-five years later Abraham and Sarah gave birth to Isaac, the promised child. Wow! Everything about this account seems so impossible.

Yet for twenty-five years, Abraham chose to believe God's promise and not consider what was so obvious each passing year. The Word further says that he never wavered at the promise, but he was strong in faith, giving glory to God. Isn't that amazing? Abraham had the fortitude and unwavering faith to believe God for so many years, despite every evidence to the contrary. Verse 23 states: "Now it was not written for his sake alone that it was imputed to him, but also for us."

So, Abraham's steadfastness was an example to us as we face impossible situations, or any promise from God that is taking a while to manifest. If we want to emulate Abraham's faith, we will have to stop considering the pain, the symptoms, what we see and feel in our bodies, and consider only what God has promised in His Word. He says Jesus took your infirmities and bore your sicknesses. (Matthew 8:17) He says that by the stripes of Jesus you were healed ~ past tense. (1 Peter 2:24) He says that He heals all your diseases. (Psalm 103:3)

So many of us waver in our faith because we are considering our circumstances. We spend an inordinate amount of time looking at our symptoms, rather than giving God glory for what He has promised. God is looking to and fro for those who will believe Him, regardless of evidence to the contrary. Determine today to be a 'believing believer;" fully confident that God will do what He has promised to do for you!

DAILY DECLARATION

I resolve today to not consider my body, the symptoms I see or feel, but rather I will magnify what God has said in His Word. He says that Jesus took my infirmities and bore my sicknesses, and I choose to believe it. I declare confidently that He who promised is faithful and will fulfill His promise to me.
