“For the earth yields crops by itself:
first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head."
Mark 4:28
In the teaching ministry of Jesus, He often likened the Kingdom of God to a seed. The very nature of a seed is that when it is sown - it grows and multiplies. So it is with the Word of God. When we plant the Word in the soil of our hearts, it grows. Mark 4:26-28 reads: "And He said, 'The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground, and should sleep by night and rise by day, and the seed should sprout and grow, he himself does not know how. For the earth yields crops by itself; first the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head.'" The express nature of God's kingdom is to grow from being minutely small to that of being fully developed, after being carefully tended and nurtured.
So it is with divine healing; it is an integral element of the kingdom of God. Just as the character of the kingdom is to grow; the character of divine healing is to grow also. After the seed of the Word has been sown in faith, the essential nature of divine healing is to sprout and grow in increments - first the blade, then the head, and finally the full manifestation of our healing. Short of an instant, miraculous manifestation of healing, which we all love, the majority of healing is progressive - little by little. Over the years, its been my observation, and likely yours also, that only a minority of people are healed instantly.
Why is this? I don't know! Recall the story of Jesus cursing the fig tree in Mark 4. Despite the fact that it had dried up from the roots, it was not until the following day that it became fully evident in the natural. After we have sown the seed of the Word in faith for our healing, we must begin to praise God that we are recovering and the seed we have sown will soon germinate, sprout and fully mature.
As Mark 4:27 indicates, we do not know how the seed sprouts and grows. Yet we do know and must believe that once sown, the seed of faith for our healing is developing a root system as we water and nourish it, and in time, our healing will spring forth. While waiting patiently for the full expression of our healing, it is imperative that we guard against any signs of doubt and unbelief.
Our role is likened to that of a farmer. By faith, we sow the seed of the Word for healing; we then water and nurture that seed, fully expecting our seed to mature and produce. Each step of the way, we thank God for even the smallest, incremental sign of healing taking place. As we wait patiently, in due season, we will be experiencing a harvest of health, wholeness and vitality
DAILY DECLARATION
By faith, I have planted the seed of the Word of God in my heart for healing. I now endeavor to tend it, water it, and nurture it daily. I refuse to allow the enemy to sow weeds of doubt, discouragement, fear, or unbelief in my heart. As I wait patiently for the first sprout, my heart is filled with anticipation and expectation of a full harvest of health!
