"Fear Not - Only Believe."
Mark 5:26
Jesus spoke these words to Jairus, one of the rulers of the synagogue. Jairus had summoned Jesus in order that He might come to his home and lay hands on his daughter to heal her. Twelve years old, she was very ill, at the point of death. Along the way Jesus was deterred and delayed through another interaction. Meanwhile, some came from Jairus' house and informed him that his daughter had died. Immediately Jesus said to him: "Fear not, only believe." Before the ruler could entertain any thoughts of doubt, discouragement or defeat, Jesus intercepted.
Have you ever felt like that? You're standing strong on the Word, certain of your inevitable victory; then wham - suddenly your symptoms are at an all-time extreme, the lab results are not looking like what you were hoping for, or the doctor's report appears worse than ever. Ugh. What looked possible a few moments ago now looks entirely impossible. I think we all can relate! It's at times like these that it would seem much easier to give up than to continue standing.
On days when I felt like all the forces of hell were arrayed against my body and there was the temptation to raise the white flag and surrender; I would head to my prayer chair with phone in hand. There, I would then listen to healing scriptures that I had previously recorded. If that wasn't adequate to deter my thoughts and emotions of doubt and unbelief, I would then meditate on who I was in Christ. You know, things like: "I am an over-comer. I overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of my testimony. I am the head and not the tail. I am above only and not beneath. I am loved, cherished, adored and treasured. Despite what my body is telling me, I have the victory. I am healed and whole by the stripes of Jesus Christ; full of the abundant life and energy." Suffice it to say that by now I was able to re-calibrate my thoughts and emotions, avoiding the enemy's invitation to enter into fear and doubt.
The scripture tells us that as soon as the evil report came to Jairus, immediately Jesus instructed him to 'only believe.' Subsequently, his daughter was healed and made whole. When recovering your health, it is essential to ignore the enemy's attempts to engage you with his evil reports. Continue to stand strong on God's unwavering Word. Refuse to focus on impossibilities. Only Believe!
DAILY DECLARATION
I resist the enemy's temptation to enter into thoughts of fear, doubt and unbelief. Instead, I will have a plan in place to counter these attacks and recognize them for what they are; lies and deception of the devil. I will thwart the lies of the enemy and continue to stand on God's unshakable Word despite evidence to the contrary. Like Jairus, I choose to believe only!
