“And do not be conformed to this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Romans 12:2
So, what does renewing your mind have to do with healing? Lots! Proverbs 27:3 declares: “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” If you are constantly thinking about sickness and disease; that’s what you will have. But, if you renew your mind, to make your thinking congruent to the Word of God, you can transform that sickness, that weakness, into health and wholeness. Renewing your mind enables you to demonstrate God’s perfect will for your life. Whenever there’s conflict between what God says in His Word, and what you’re experiencing, mind renewal is the bridge to connect the two.
Isaiah 53, looking ahead to what Jesus would accomplish on the cross, prophesied: “And by His stripes we are healed.” Matthew 8:17 confirms this when declaring: “He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.” Finally, looking back on the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, 1 Peter 2:24 affirms: "By whose stripes you were healed.” That’s past tense! You were healed 2,000 years ago on the cross! You see, according to the Word, God has already accomplished your healing! It’s up to you to renew your mind to these truths, so that your body will physically manifest the life and health that Jesus purchased for you at Calvary.
Is it easy? No! Your body screaming with pain, weakness and symptoms will fight you the whole way. It doesn’t make sense to the natural mind, and it won’t. It is of the spirit and cannot be understood by our natural minds. (1 Corinthians 2:14) Believe me, I tried for many years to wrap my head around these truths. We must remember, God’s ways are higher than our ways! (Isaiah 55:8,9)
So much of your physical and mental health is dependent on renewing your mind. As your thoughts begin to line up and agree with God’s Word, your body will also begin to respond from the inside-out. Mind renewal is a process that takes time, but you can rest assured that even when you don’t see visible changes on the outside; in time your body will reflect the truth of God’s Word healing you and making you whole!
DAILY DECLARATION
I determine today to renew my mind to the truth of the Word of God. No longer will I be conformed to this world, but I will be transformed by Your truth. I endeavor to replace my old way of thinking about sickness and disease with thoughts of life, health, and wholeness. I watch with thanksgiving how my body and mind are being transformed by the truth of Your Word!
